A Wedding for the Queen of Hearts

If you love Alice in Wonderland (like I do) and beautiful, bold colors (like me) or just love a truly themed out wedding full of artistry and theatrics - this one is for you! I had the best time creating two cakes for this Queen of Hearts shoot. Combined with bright floral details, a dramatic venue (we love you, Greystone Castle!) and a bride in multiple looks, it was a day I won’t soon forget.

The first cake I made was a towering white cake with stenciled patterning on the side. When cut open, it was a brilliant, bold red with fluffy frosting to create a wonderful surprise for guests!

The inside of the cake was bold, red and delicious. It was so perfect displaying the bright cake slices on the checkerboard floor as well to mimic the queen of hearts chase scene from Alice in Wonderland. How whimsical is that?

A four-tiered white wedding cake with rose stencils and white buttercream mini roses

The second cake was an asymmetrical tiered wedding cake in abstract expressionist brush strokes of red, pink and white, topped with gorgeous flowers. It was a unique challenge, and balancing the tiers involved some rough geometry, but once it was all said and done, I love the look of this bold square wedding cake! Just look at these colors!

It was so much fun being a part of this day!
